That is not a gimmick. Somebody has to occupy the agent line from the moment the Articles of Organization are accepted, Bizee fills it, and for those months the service costs you nothing. If Bizee is forming your company anyway, take the included months and use them.

The Rate That Starts When They Stop

Standalone Bizee agent service is $149 a year. When the bundled window closes, that is the figure the account rolls onto. The transition is not a trick and Bizee is not concealing the number, which sits in public on its site. The exposure is a matter of timing rather than disclosure: a rate you never selected begins applying on a date you probably did not record.

The Part That Is Specific to New Mexico

In most states there is a natural backstop against forgetting. An annual or biennial report arrives on a fixed date, you log into your company record to file it, and while you are in there the agent listing is right in front of you. The report is a nuisance, but it functions as a yearly audit of everything else on the record, including who is being paid to hold your mail.

New Mexico removed that backstop. An LLC here files no periodic report with the Secretary of State, at any interval, for any fee. There is no filing window, no deadline notice, and no reason the state would ever put your company record in front of you again after formation. The only thing that will bring you back is a problem.

Which means the day your Bizee months expire is genuinely unmarked. No state notice lands in that week. No filing forces a look. The most likely way a New Mexico owner learns that free became $149 is a line on a card statement several months after it happened, and the second most likely way is never noticing at all.

That absence cuts a second way, and it is the more serious one. If an agent arrangement quietly degrades in a state with a yearly report, the problem tends to surface within twelve months. Here nothing surfaces it. A wrong or unattended agent listing can persist for years, and the discovery event is a process server who cannot complete delivery followed by a court that counted your response days regardless.
