Quarterly billing is not inherently deceptive. Some businesses genuinely prefer smaller charges spread across the calendar, and cash flow is a real consideration for a young company. What quarterly billing reliably does, though, is keep the annual total off the signup screen. The comparison a buyer needs is $596 against whatever else is on the table, and that figure only exists after you have done the multiplication yourself.

Now Compare the Cadence to the State's

This is where New Mexico makes the arithmetic vivid, because the state's own billing schedule for an LLC is empty.

New Mexico does not require an LLC to file an annual report, a biennial report, or a periodic report under any other name, and there is no recurring Secretary of State fee attached to an LLC in this state. The one filing in that table with a price on it is optional and one-time: $20 for a statement of change, set by NMSA 1978, § 53-19-63(I), payable only in the year you actually change something.

So the picture is a state that invoices your company nothing on a schedule, and a vendor that invoices it four times a year. Over five years the Secretary of State collects nothing recurring from a New Mexico LLC while Swyft Filings collects close to three thousand dollars for holding an address. The gap is not a criticism of the service performed. It is a description of what quarterly billing amounts to when the underlying obligation renews once.

One submission ends the cycle. New Mexico calls it a Statement of Change of Registered Office or Registered Agent, or Both, and a single statement covers either element or the pair at once.

Where it goes: the Business Services Division of the New Mexico Secretary of State, lodged inside the enterprise portal the state runs at enterprise.sos.nm.gov. There is no alternative channel. Paper business filings are not accepted here, and because the filing has always been electronic there is no form number to quote at anyone.

What it costs: an LLC pays $20, charged to a card at the moment of filing, with any card processing fee added to that.

How to sequence it: engage the incoming agent first, then file. The statement is built to substitute one name for another, not to vacate the line, and New Mexico expects the registered office to be continuously staffed.
